I. Purpose of the Instrument
DLD-360 Forest fire observation and positioning instrument, primarily used for forest fire prevention.
Fire lookout towers are used to determine azimuth, distance, elevation difference, horizontal angle, and slope angle. They are also employed in general surveying applications such as agricultural water conservancy, land planning, and topographic mapping, and can further be utilized at tourist attractions. Wilderness First Aid Monitoring Early warning for the location of emergencies in densely populated areas.
II. Instrument Structure
The instrument consists primarily of four major components: the telescope, the vertical circle, the indicator dial, and the tripod.
Telescope 1 , mounted on pan-tilt head 3, which comprises a horizontal locking knob 2, a vertical circle 4, and an elevation locking handle 5, among other components. Pan-tilt head 3 is installed on upright post 6, the bottom of which is fitted with a pointer 8. Through linkage with telescope 1 via upright post 6, the indicator dial 7 provides real-time indication of the azimuth angle to which the telescope has been rotated, while the vertical circle 4 indicates the elevation angle of telescope 1. Indicator dial 7 is equipped with Magnetic Compass 9 It serves to calibrate the indicator dial 7; the bottom of the indicator dial is equipped with a standard threaded hole for connection to the tripod 10.
III. Instrument Operation Procedures
1 1. Instrument installation method:
① First, place the tripod 10. Move the instrument aside, then place it on the tripod. Align the tripod’s mounting bolts with the threaded holes at the base of the instrument and screw them in. Before adjusting the instrument, ensure there is sufficient clearance for the indicator dial 7 to rotate.
② Adjust the tripod height according to the observer’s height.
2 1. Instrument adjustment method:
① Adjust the length of each telescoping leg of the tripod individually to center the long bubble in the magnetic compass.
② Slowly rotate the main dial and observe the magnetic compass needle on the main dial.
causing the magnetic needle to rotate until it aligns with the meridian of the magnetic compass (0 (°~180°) to
The correct position;
③ Loosen horizontal fastening knob 2 , rotate telescope 1 to view Telescope refers to 1 Align the instrument with the pointer direction, then tighten the horizontal locking knob 2 to secure the mounting bolts of tripod 10. The instrument installation and adjustment are now complete.
3 , Azimuth and Elevation Angle Measurement
Rotate the telescope, which in turn drives the pointer via the support rod beneath it.
The instrument rotates synchronously, while the telescope also performs vertical elevation and depression movements. When the telescope is aligned directly with the observation target, the scale reading indicated by the pointer represents the azimuth of the target, and the scale reading indicated by the vertical-circle pointer represents the target’s elevation angle.
4 , Distance Measurement
The distance is explained as follows:
For example: in A , Points B and C are observed simultaneously for fire conditions at Point C; it is known that
AB The distance between the two points is 1000. Rice,
Require to measure C Calculate the distance and bearing from point A to point B.

In A Click to observe C By observing points A and B, the value of ∠A can be determined; similarly, by observing points C and A from point B, the value of ∠B can be determined.
Assume the measured value of ∠A Let ∠A be 30° and ∠B be 60°;
Then ∠C = 90°. °; it is also known that AB = 1000 meters;
According to the Law of Sines: it follows that

5 , Height Measurement
Depending on the working conditions and practical requirements, the instrument can be placed at any point at a known distance; the elevation angle can then be measured using the telescope, and the height can be calculated accordingly. An example is provided below:

(1 ) When measuring height on level ground, the elevation angle is h. 1 Add instrument height h 2 For total height calculation:
h Total height = h 1 + h 2 (Telescope height)
h1=AB (known distance) tga
(2 ) Elevation angle height when measuring elevation on a slope h 1 Add depression angle height h 2 Calculate

H Total height = h 1 + h 2
h 1 =A B times tangent of a 1 h 2 =A B times tangent of a 2
IV. Instrument Maintenance and Precautions
1 , The instrument has been calibrated before shipment; if the instrument has undergone long-distance
In the event of transportation-related impacts, severe vibrations, or prolonged periods of disuse, prior to use the leveling mechanism shall be adjusted to ensure that the level vial, pointer, and telescope are all aligned in a common direction.
2 After use, all adjustment mechanisms shall be returned to their neutral positions and securely locked.
3 , magnetic When not in use, the compass’s magnetic needle should be locked to prevent wear on the agate, thereby extending its service life.
4 The instrument shall be stored in a dry, clean environment to prevent mold growth on optical components and rusting of metal parts.
5 During use, the surfaces of telescope optical components should be kept free from contamination; after any maintenance or disassembly, the instrument must be recalibrated before it can be used.
